In reply to Your Lordship's Des-
-patch No. 78 of the 3rd. instant, enquiring whether it
would be possible to meet the wishes of Major-General
Villiers Hatton by commencing at an early date the reclama-
-tion to which reference is made in the correspondence
with regard to the proposed road through War Department
Property at North Point, I have the honour to state that
there are no funds available for, nor am I prepared to
undertake, the reclamation of the Marine Lot for which the
Military Authorities have applied, which reclamation is
roughly estimated to cost $35,000.

I am, however, willing to hand
over this lot, or one which may be found better to meet
the purposes for which it was required, at the price per
Square Foot last paid for a Marine Lot in the vicinity,
the amount to be credited to the Colonial Government in
